In early June 2022, the project team visited some of our beneficiary kindergartens that have recently started to roll out Sekolah Enuma Indonesia (SEI), an early childhood digital learning app, to their students. After the COVID lockdown, students are gradually returning to schools and SEI is being used as a way to help children catch up with their lost learnings. The team made observations of how classes are conducted in these schools and received positive feedback from both teachers and students about how SEI is helping them.
During the visits, the team had the opportunity to discuss implementation challenges and opportunities with school principals, teachers and parents. They were also heartened to learn that schools and parents are seeking the Foundation’s further support to expand their SEI implementations to more schools and students since the positive initial results have created a strong demand.
The HEAD Foundation is currently providing grant support to six NGOs that are bringing SEI to more than 2,500 students in multiple communities in Indonesia. These projects are located in North Sumatra, Kalimantan, Maluku Tenggara Barat, Sumba Barat Daya and Jawa Barat. Grants will be provided to more NGOs for SEI rollouts at other locations in the coming months.
