HyFlex Teaching Using Google Workspace | Workshop 1

Making HEADway Workshop 1 - featured

Making HEADways’s first skills-focused workshop, HyFlex Teaching Using Google Workspace, concluded on 16 September 2022. An extension of our third Making HEADway series, Enhancing Remote Learning, this two-day virtual workshop introduced participants to the basic principles of HyFlex teaching, and core skills in utilising Google Workspace tools for effective and engaging classes.

The workshop equipped educators with different strategic approaches to use Google Workspace which they can integrate in their respective lessons to fully engage their students. The programme covered recommended lesson plans, hands-on training, and additional take-home work for individual practice and improvement.

Among the tools and skills covered were:

  • creating Hyperdocs as a consolidated and interactive lesson document;
  • creating virtual exercises with Google Drawings;
  • using Google Arts and Culture for an immersive classroom experience;
  • and creating your own digital class portfolio using Google Sites.

The participants engaged in lively discussions and demonstrated creativity with the assignments.

Participants and learning outcome

This workshop was designed for educators who are familiar with technology, have a stable internet connection, and are interested in incorporating Google Workspace tools in their regular teaching practice.

The workshop was conducted in English, and impacted 23 participants from the Philippines, Indonesia, India, and Singapore. Participants completed the sessions with a deepened knowledge of using Google Workspace tools, and functional documents and lesson plans for the classroom.
