The HEAD Foundation supported ‘Eat Right, Feel Right – A Nutrition and Mental Health Carnival’ organised by Fei Yue Community Mental Health and People’s Association, on Sunday, 20 October 2019 at Keat Hong Community Club, Singapore. The carnival was officiated by Mr. Zaqy Mohamad, Member of Parliament for Chua Chu Kang Group Representation Constituency (GRC).
Open to the general public, the carnival raised awareness on the importance of a healthy diet on mental well-being. Public talks on dementia and nutrition were conducted by Holmusk and Singapore Nutrition and Dietetics Association (SNDA) in Mandarin and Malay, respectively. Game and information booths were also set up by several other activity partners such as, Republic Polytechnic’s School of Applied Science’s game booth that demonstrated ways to make healthy food palatable and attractive for consumption. The Health Promotion Board (HPB), Alzheimer’s Disease Association (ADA) and other partners hosted information booths to promote active and healthy aging.
The Carnival attracted an estimated crowd of 1350 people, the majority of whom were seniors and families. As a result of the concerted effort among the 12 activity partners, seven sponsors, including The HEAD Foundation, and the Fei Yue Community Mental Health, the carnival made great strides in raising public awareness on the importance of a healthy diet on mental health.
