Chronic pain is a global health concern — complex, misunderstood, and often inadequately addressed. How is pain processed in the brain and what neuro-based strategies can be applied?
On 7 September 2025, The HEAD Foundation hosted the talk titled “Pain Management: The Neuro Reset Method and Actionable Strategies” under its Dialogues series for an audience comprising TCM and healthcare practitioners. The event featured Dr Diana Chan, a senior consultant anaesthesiologist, pain medicine specialist and Founder of SingHealth Duke-NUS Pain Centre; and Prof Andy Hsu, a neuroscientist, educator and CEO of BrainCare360 Group.
Dr Chan delved into the pathophysiology of chronic pain, common pain conditions in adults, the general principles of pain management, and complementary therapy such as acupuncture.
Prof Andy Hsu then spoke more about how pain comes about from the point of neuroscience and neuro-based approach to pain management.
The event closed with a Q&A session where discussions went further into different ways to manage pain in relation to its nature.
