The Leadership Development Programme for Higher Education Institutes (LDP-HEIs) 2022 is The HEAD Foundation’s fifth partnership with the Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA). This is also the third offering for Higher Education Institutes in the Philippines.

The over-arching theme for this run is “Designing Your University’s Future”, with participants envisioning their desired future, exploring the delivery of education to achieve applicable educational outcomes and support from required enablers.

Over a period of three months, 23 participants from 12 Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) discussed key issues revolving HEIs with academics and practitioners from Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand and Korea, and LDP-HEI alumni. The sessions were facilitated by Programme Director Dr Natarajan Varaprasad, alongside trainers Dr Calvin Chan and Dr Rebekah Lim from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), who make up the faculty team of the programme.

The programme was opened on 3 November 2022 by representatives from the Commission on Higher Education Philippines (CHED), State Universities and Colleges-Association of Colleges of Agriculture in the Philippines (SUC-ACAP), SEARCA and The HEAD Foundation.

Participants, programme faculty and organisers during one of the seven online sessions.

After seven online sessions, participants convened at Los Baños from 11 to 13 January 2023 to pitch their Re-entry Action Plan (REAP), which was further refined to be more efficient, effective and efficacious. Participants underlined the importance of addressing educators’ mindset, engaging internal and external stakeholders in the system, efficient matching of resources and being agile to navigate change and catalyse impact by increasing collaborations with other stakeholders in the ecosystem in their REAP. The programme was closed by Dr Glenn B. Gregorio from SEARCA and Vignesh Naidu from The HEAD Foundation.

We wish all participants the best as they move forward with their REAP, with support from the programme faculty team.
