No One Born Poor: Prisoner. Politician. Pioneer.

Dialogues - Veng Sereyvuth- featured

What is life like for someone who started his journey as a village boy in Prey Veng in Cambodia, to becoming a politician, a Cabinet Minister in the Cambodian Government and a pioneer in education today? On 11 October 2022, The HEAD Foundation Dialogues featured Veng Sereyvuth, who recounted his inconceivable life journey and how he was empowered by education.

Speaking to students in the audience, Veng shared that his mother’s advice to continue his education became his life’s focus — always learning no matter his age or station . Even as he drove cyclos for a living and became a refugee in Thailand as a teenager, he was motivated to find every opportunity to seek education. After pursuing higher education overseas, Veng returned to Cambodia to give back to the country. By leading from the heart, he hopes to inspire the younger generation to pave the way for Cambodia’s future.
