Professor S Gopinathan, Academic Director at The HEAD Foundation was invited by Universitas Negeri Jakarta (UNJ) to speak at their International Talk event on the topic “21st Century Challenges – Teachers, Teaching and Teacher Education” on 17 July 2017.
The talk was attended by an invited group of Vice Rectors from nine different institutions in Indonesia. The presentation examined the broad challenges facing teacher preparation and the teaching profession and illustrated how Singapore is tackling these issues.
Prof Gopinathan emphasised the need for ASEAN institutions to think beyond just teacher preparation, and consider factors such as the nature of learning, how high performing schools function, and the role of principals as instructional leaders.
