The HEAD Foundation (THF) is pleased to announce its 2017 Request for Proposals (RFP). Through this RFP, THF is looking to support projects that allow the Foundation to fulfil its mission of contributing to Human Capital & Education for Asian Development. As a non-profit think-tank, one that promotes positive social change in Asia, we are keen to support projects that:

  1. produce usable knowledge;
  2. produce scalable and sustainable outcomes and impact;
  3. involve country-based researchers and institutions; and
  4. are relevant and applicable to multiple Asian societies, but with a focus on Southeast Asian countries.

For developing countries in Asia, one of the strongest and clearest strategies to move up the next rung of the economic ladder is effective and efficient investment in education. The availability and equitable access to quality education is key for Southeast Asian countries caught in the middle-income trap as it is for poorer Southeast Asian economies like Laos and Cambodia.

Although ensuring access to basic education and raising completion ratios for all groups is still necessary, there is a consensus that it is equally necessary to focus on educational quality for improved social and economic outcomes.

The Foundation currently funds a number of projects supported through previous RFPs. Applicants are encouraged to visit our website for examples of projects that the Foundation supports.

For this call, the Foundation has a particular interest in projects that aim to utilize technological innovations to improve educational outcomes, especially in the field of STEM education. Proposals that focus on other aspects of education are welcome and would be evaluated without bias or prejudice.
